ARQ News

We are 1!

Darlington ARQ is 1 year old today!

We were officially incorporated on 29th August 2017; and although we operated for a few days prior to this, we are marking today as our first birthday!

We would like to thank everyone that has helped us get through this year; service users and volunteers, past, present and future.  Well done to everyone involved in getting us through year one, and here is to year two!

North East theatre maker and writer Jonluke McKie is looking for people willing to share their thoughts about what gender and sexuality mean to them through a conversation about sex as part of his research for a new play called Preconceived.

Working in partnership with Newcastle based dance and theatre artist Lizzie J Klotz Preconceived will be a fast-paced, physical show performed by one actor that will use participants true stories, as well as original writing by Jonluke, to help shed light on the stories we don’t hear so often when it comes to sex and explore the funny, painful, hairy and confusing truth of this fundamentally human topic.

The final show will be premiered at Newcastle’s Alphabetti  Theatre in 2019.

Last chance to have your say on Children and Young People’s Mental Health services in Darlington!

From Healthwatch – 21/08/2018

Across the summer we have been encouraging as many individuals, families and young people as possible to tell us what they think about mental health services and support for young people living in Darlington!

You still have a chance to get involved but not for long as we will begin to produce our report in just a few weeks, so don’t miss out!

We were told by a staggering 45% of our survey participants that Mental Health was a top priority with a particular focus on children and young people services.

Are you an individual, parent or carer in Darlington who is or have in the past supported a young person with mental health and want to share your views? >>> Then please take part in our survey

Are you a young person living in Darlington who uses mental health services or know someone who is? Or are you a young person who just wants to share your views on the future of mental health in your town? >>> Then please take part in our survey

Please share our surveys far and wide so we can give EVERYONE the opportunity to have their say!

Together we can make a difference!

Youthwatch Members Recruitment

Youthwatch Member Recruitment – Opportunity for young people

Youthwatch is a group made up of young people aged 14 – 25 years old living in Darlington. The group sits within Healthwatch Darlington but is led by young people and driven by the ideas of young people who want to make a difference to health and care services in Darlington for their age group. Young people have a voice when it comes to healthcare and young people have rights too.

Youthwatch are looking to expand and need new members. This would be the perfect opportunity for students or any young people who have just left school/college looking to get involved with something along side their studies in the new academic year or for some work experience providing students/young people with confidence and enhanced skills. It’s fun and gives young people an opportunity to make a difference in their local town.

There is plenty to get involved with from social media assistance, video blogging, creative design for posters /leaflets, project assistance and creating reports.

If you think this sounds like a great opportunity for a young person you know then please get in contact with Jemma via or call 01325 380145.

Please share this poster made by our Youthwatch members far and wide.
