They now hold the award certificate (above) which they proudly display in their school.
Jonathan Lumb, Principal, was quoted as saying “We take pride in ensuring that Haughton Academy is an inclusive school catering for all pupils. Education around LGBT matters is crucial in helping children feel normal in their identities”.
Andi Cull from Darlington ARQ added “What an absolute delight it was to deliver this training to Haughton Academy. The school have worked very hard with their training over two afternoons and have demonstrated a high level of commitment to LGBT+ values. Not only that, but they are the first school in Darlington to do so, which is I think is an excellent example. I hope this adds to their already excellent portfolio of inclusivity A very well earned well done to all the staff on achieving their award and we wish them all the very best with their first pupil led LGBT+ group”.
